At Secret World Wildlife Rescue, we offer engaging, curriculum-linked learning experiences for schools and pre-schools. Whether through onsite visits or outreach sessions, our talks and activities are designed to inspire young people about British wildlife and conservation.

Outreach and Onsite Sessions

We can visit your school or welcome you to our centre for interactive learning experiences, tailored to different age groups and educational needs.

    Talks and Presentations

    Our outreach and onsite talks can cover:

    • Introduction to Secret World Wildlife Rescue – Learn about our vital work in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and release.
    • Specific Species Talks – In-depth discussions on species such as hedgehogs, foxes, badgers, and birds of prey.
    • Human Impacts on Wildlife – Exploring how our actions affect wildlife and how we can help.
    • Habitats – Understanding different wildlife habitats and how species adapt to their environments.
    • Seasonal Changes in Wildlife – How animals respond to changing seasons, including migration and food availability.
    • Hibernating Animals – Discover which British species hibernate and how they prepare for winter.
    • Custom Topics – If you have a specific topic in mind, let us know, and we will tailor a session to your needs.
    Outdoor and Hands-On Learning (Onsite Only)

    Our onsite sessions focus on outdoor education and immersive activities, including:

    • Wildlife walks – Exploring natural habitats around our centre.
    • Tracks and signs – Learning how to identify wildlife presence.
    • Minibeast hunting – Discovering invertebrates in different ecosystems.
    • Bird watching surveys – Observing and recording bird species.
    • Bat surveys – Investigating bat activity and habitats.
    • Moth trapping and identification – Studying nocturnal wildlife.
    • Small mammal surveys – Exploring the lives of wild mammals.
    • Wildlife rescue workshops – Hands-on learning about rescuing and rehabilitating injured wildlife.

    Sessions Options and Pricing

    • Onsite sessions: Available as one-hour, half-day, or full-day.
      • Prices start from £3 per pupil.
      • Sessions are linked to the National Curriculum.
      • Held at our dedicated education centre.
    • Outreach sessions: Available at your school with flexible pricing.
        • Discounted rates may apply when booking multiple sessions.

    Pre-School Sessions

    For younger children, our sessions include:

    • More photos, videos, and sounds to engage early learners.
    • Taxidermy specimens to allow close-up exploration of different species.

    SEN and Non-Mainstream Education

    We offer specialised sessions for SEN students and alternative education settings, tailored to:

    • Smaller group sizes.
    • Sensory-friendly learning.
    • Online or in-person delivery, adapted to individual needs.

    How to Make a Booking

    To book a session, please complete our booking form and return it to learning@secretworld.org.

    Alternatively, you can email us with the following details:

    • Contact details, including your school’s address, phone number, and email
    • Details of any special or additional needs or requirements

    If returning the form by post, please notify us via email, as we do not always receive post regularly.

    Need help funding an extracurricular activity or on-site visit?

    If funding is a concern, consider speaking to your PTA. Many PTAs are eager to support educational experiences outside of the classroom and may be able to assist with financing the session and transport costs. They may also be willing to organise a fundraising event to help cover expenses.
