From early in the year we begin to look for release sites for the year's wildlife orphans, and our release coordinator surveys potential sites.

With our orphans we use a soft release method. This is a gradual process where they are released into a temporary pre-release enclosure initially, so that they can get used to their new surroundings. They are support fed whilst they learn to hunt, forage and fend for themselves. Read more about our release process

We are always on the lookout for new release sites so if you have land you think may be suitable and would like to be involved in one of our release programs please get in touch!

The main species we are looking for sites for are:

  • Owls
  • Hedgehogs
  • Foxes
  • Badgers
  • Deer

We will need a site for temporary pens while the animals get used to the new territorial area, plus surrounding countryside for them to move into upon release. In the case of badgers, we may need to create a permanent sett for them to live in.

If you think you may be able to help please call us on 01278 783 250 or email our wildlife release coordinator Tristan Cooper

We are also in need of donations of materials for our pre-release pens - tools, fencing, mesh and more - can you help?
