Fundraising Manager

Fundraising Manager – Secret World Wildlife Rescue (SWWR)

Salary: £28,000 per annum  

Location:  Highbridge, Somerset

Secret World Wildlife Rescue (SWWR) exists to relieve the suffering of British wildlife, to encourage respect and tolerance for wildlife and to further its conservation. SWWR strives to do this by:

  • providing a public rescue, rehabilitation, and release service for injured, sick and orphaned wildlife.
  • providing a learning and outreach programme, public education, and access to a unique wildlife experience.
  • disseminating information and data, delivering professional training, and helping conservation projects, to improve knowledge and raise standards of wildlife care across the UK.

The Charity operates a 24/7, 365 days a year and work predominately across Somerset, Bristol and the surrounding area.  As a result of our expertise, our reputation has grown, and we frequently take cases from across the UK including many from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and the Wildlife Trusts. Our volunteer response drivers are equipped and trained to rescue all types of British mammals and birds, and bring them back to Secret World for treatment, or take them direct to the nearest veterinary surgery as appropriate. A team of around 45 works alongside a strong and committed volunteer workforce. Our new purpose-built Wildlife Treatment Centre provides an excellent working environment, alongside our wildlife rehabilitation facilities.

Hours:                               37.5 hrs per week

Responsible to:               Head of Education and Public Relations

Pension:                            SWWR provides a workplace pension to eligible employees.

Must have a clean driving licence as you may be required to drive company vehicles.

Events Manager

Events Manager- Secret World Wildlife Rescue (SWWR)

Salary: £26,000

Location:  Highbridge, Somerset

The Charity operates a 24/7, 365 days a year, and operates across Somerset, Bristol and the surrounding area.  A team of around 45 works alongside a strong and committed volunteer workforce. Employees and volunteers and Response drivers are equipped and trained to rescue all types of British mammals and birds. After appropriate veterinary care, these animals are rehabilitated on site and eventually released back to the wild. Our new purpose-built Wildlife Treatment Centre provides an excellent working environment, alongside our wildlife rehabilitation facilities.

Hours:                                37.5 hours per week

Responsible to:               Head of Retail or Executive Director

Pension:                            SWWR provides a workplace pension to eligible employees.

Salary: Equivalent to National Minimum Wage   

Location:  Highbridge, Somerset (PLEASE NOTE this is an in person role, remote working is not possible)

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Background of the role

 To assist in the delivery of a high-quality wildlife care rescue and reception service function, with exceptional standards of service and advice to the general public.  Help to ensure the efficient admission of wildlife casualties.  At all times ensuring a warm and professional welcome for all visitors to the Charity.

 The postholder is expected to foster excellent working relationships with all wildlife care reception employees and volunteers, plus Response Driver volunteers.  As a member of the Wildlife Care Team, the postholder is also expected to work inclusively and collaboratively across the organisation with other employees and volunteers.  At all times working within the SWWR Behaviours Framework.

 

Responsible to:              Wildlife Care Supervisors

Secret World Wildlife Rescue is a registered charity that rescues, rehabilitates and releases Britain’s orphaned, injured and sick wildlife. It is a unique service in the South West and helps over 5,000 casualties every year from its base near Highbridge, Somerset.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue is a modern, professional charity that delivers a high standard of animal care, a unique educational offering and shares its expertise with other care professionals. The last few years have put in place the cornerstones of good governance at every level of the charity, so the next few years can be about extending the reach and the impact of the Secret World Wildlife Rescue brand.

The Charity is undergoing structural change to professionalize and set operational and financial strategies. We have recently opened our new Wildlife Treatment Centre following a successful capital appeal, and the next stage of the charity’s development will be the refurbishment of its rehabilitation facilities.

Whilst broad business and management skills are welcome, we are particularly interested to hear from those with a substantial track record in education, who may wish to use this opportunity as a means of further personal and professional development.
