
Rescue, Care and Rehabilitation of Garden Birds

This species-specific course focusing on Garden birds is aimed at those who have already completed our Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release Courses and/or have some good foundation knowledge of the rehabilitation of garden birds.
The course will include discussion of:
- The ecology and biology of garden birds relevant to their assessment and triage for treatment, rehabilitation and release
- The care of garden birds whilst in captivity
- Some of the common reasons for admissions of garden birds to vets and wildlife centres
- The care of nestling and fledgling garden birds
The course will be led by Katie Gibbs (SWWR Animal Carer) and Dan Bryant (SWWR Section leader), both of whom have many years of experience in dealing with garden birds. Veterinary Advisor Dr Liz Mullineaux will contribute information diseases and other clinical conditions.
The courses will be run virtually (online using Zoom) as a half day (4hr) event. Delegates may attend ‘live’ or will be able to ‘catch up’ using a time limited link over the week following the live event.
Those attending will receive an electronic certificate, as well as a selection of relevant open access scientific papers and other supporting electronic information.

Please note that although this will be a detailed course, no specific drug doses or treatments will be included, as the course is not aimed specifically at veterinary professionals. Veterinary surgeons requiring discussion of these things are directed to our course for Veterinary professionals.
