Secret World are looking to grow its thriving team of Community Champions.

Secret World’s Community Champions are volunteers who help us to raise awareness and funds within their local community. They act as Secret World ambassadors in their area, delivering a variety of fundraising activities and promotions.

As a Community Champion, you can provide flexible support that fits around you and the amount of time you are able to offer. Being at the heart of our community fundraising, Community Champions can:

  • Source outlets for collection boxes, such as shops, pubs, restaurants and veterinary practices and being the point of contact for collection and replacement

  • Source outlets for food bins in local supermarkets, stores and pet shops, and being the point of contact for collection

  • Promote Secret World events and activities through the distribution of leaflets and posters in the local area, including door-to-door leaflet drops

  • Support our bird handlers and attend local public events where Secret World has been invited to have a stall or presence to raise awareness, engage with the public and promote our adoption scheme

  • Identify opportunities to apply for local funding, such as Tesco, Asda, Co-Op and Waitrose, complete and submit applications with support from the Fundraising Team

  • Participate in bag packing at local stores where opportunities arise which is an easy fundraising activity

  • Organise community events if appropriate, such as coffee mornings, cake sales, quiz nights

  • Source raffle prizes from local businesses for our Open Days and social media auctions

With support from Secret World’s Fundraising Team, if you feel confident and able, we encourage our Community Champions to give talks to local groups and school assemblies as these can often lead to further fundraising opportunities or donations.

To expand our ability to fundraise, develop awareness and promote the work of Secret World Wildlife Rescue within our surrounding communities, contact us or email fundraising@secretworld.org to discuss how you can become a Community Champion.
