Secret World Wildlife Rescue held its annual charity ball at the Webbington Hotel earlier this month and raised over £8,000.

This year’s ball was themed as The Ugly Bug Ball and celebrated the charity’s 25 years of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation work.

Mike Dilger, best known for his wildlife reporting for The One Show, compered the evening and ensured that the 250 guests, all dressed up for the occasion, had a ball.

As well as live music, a three-course meal and a casino, there was a live auction and a silent auction with some amazing donated prizes to raise precious funds for the charity.

Pauline Kidner, Secret World’s Charity Founder, said: “With it being our 25th anniversary, it was an extra special ball for us at Secret World Wildlife Rescue and Mike Dilger was a fantastic compere.

“The annual ball is one of the key events in our calendar. It raises vital funds so we can help even more sick and injured animals. This year we have raised over £8,000 from the event which is a fabulous amount.

“We are ever so grateful to our staff and volunteers and anyone else who helped us organise the event, as well as the people who donated the auction prizes and those who attended and placed bids on the night. We couldn’t have done it without them.”
