Your message:	I wish to register my response to your consultation document – Controlling the Spread of Bovine Tuberculosis in Cattle in High Incidence Areas in England: Badger Culling. With regards to Question 1 – In light of the evidence presented as part of this consultation, on balance, do you think a policy to cull badgers should be part of the approach to help control the disease in cattle high incidence areas ? I am totally opposed to any form of badger culling. Your own appointed Independent Scientific Group (ISG) has proven that culling of badgers would not reduce Bovine TB and could increase it. I believe the use of lethal gas as a method of culling would be disastrous to the countryside and would cause huge suffering to many animals as well as badgers. (Gassing was stopped in 1982 following Government experiments showing it to be inhumane and unworkable). With 13 million recorded cattle movements annually, cattle to cattle transmission is the predominate cause of Bovine TB and should be addressed as a matter of urgency. Large scale culling of badgers is not ethical, manageable, cost effective or sustainable. As a tax payer, I do not want my taxes wasted on killing thousands of badgers. Money should to be used more productively in research for a vaccine to protect our cattle and better testing methods.
