Sick Killing of a Fox

On Tuesday evening the 5th January, a dead fox was dumped on the door step of Secret World Wildlife Rescue, East Huntspill.  It’s tail had been cut off after it had died, which is a hunting tradition.

Founder Pauline Kidner said,

“ We abhor these people who think that we will be stopped in our fight against cruelty in the countryside by doing such a sick act. The member of staff who found the animal was very upset and the fact that someone has killed such a beautiful animal in prime condition just to make a point shows just how sick these people are.”  The animal also looked as if someone had stamped on it.

In the past few weeks Secret World has been involved in a snaring incident, a badger dig where a badger was killed and another report of digging – all within the locality.

“We ask people to contact us or the police if they have any information about people involved in these incidents or indeed any other wildlife crimes. Until wildlife crime is reported and recorded, we will never be able to stop these inhumane people who regard animal cruelty as sport. “

Anyone with information should ring the police or Secret World Wildlife Rescue on 01278 783250.

  1. This is typical isn’t it, and the sad thing is, that usually it is a small proportion of the hunting fraternity who would behave like this.

I dislike hunting, although I have witnessed a hunt.
I was taken to 3 hunts by the late H.G.Hurell, he told me I would never truly have studied foxes if I did not go and see a hunt for my self, I knew he was right, at that time hunting was part of the foxes life.
Now, as well as dealing with the hunts, that are still managing to hunt, whilst” exercising their hounds and horses”. The fox is up against it, we are getting snaring incidents, I have found fox bodies with the tails cut off, one had no ears!!!and 2 were skinned.
    Despicable.
It seems to me somehow, that we did the fox no favours by banning hunting, for louts like the ones who did this to you, it’s a field day on foxes.
killing foxes is legal, as long as you don’t do it with dogs.

I was so sorry to read that this had happened to Secret World, and as you say, jut to make a point.
